The formation period of the Japanese used car sales industry can be traced back to the 1950s. Following the economic recovery from around 1955, the general consumer base became the center of the automobile industry, the number of customers purchasing cars for the first time increased, and the sales of new cars increased sharply. There were many micro-enterprise companies, and new car dealers took the initiative in the market, but the dealers did not put much effort into the used car sector. In the 1970s, auction-style inter-dealer transactions began to take place in various places, and in the 1980s, USS and other auction companies became involved.
